3 Non-Korean BB Cushions That are The Game Changer for Your Skin - By Felicia Yeo
Here’s how these western brand cushions stack up against the Korean brands.
LANCÔME Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation
Formulated with LANCÔME’s unique, patented Polar Cushion Technology™ for long-wear coverage, the LANCÔME Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation offers users a medium to full coverage with SPF 50 sun proctection. Like the Tom Ford Traceless Touch Foundation SPF 45 Satin-Matte Cushion Compact, this cushion works like a charm. The high-coverage formula allows me to cover imperfections easily and it lasts the entire day without getting oily. Despite the incredible coverage, you need not worry that the foundation will feel tacky and heavy on the skin. It is so lightweight that it doesn’t feel like I’m putting any product on my skin. It doesn’t dry the skin or make my skin feels oily which I think will work with a lot of skin types. The unique formula gives off a cooling sensation when applied, leaving my skin feeling fresh and nice on top of the beautiful, seamless and airbrushed finish.

MAC COSMETICS Lightful C + Coral Grass SPF 50/PA++++ Quick Finish Cushion Compact Foundation
If you’re looking for a cushion that gives you a natural and radiant finish with great SPF coverage, the MAC COSMETICS Lightful C + Coral Grass SPF 50/PA++++ Quick Finish Cushion Compact Foundation will be your best bet! Unlike the Tom Ford and LANCÔME cushions that are high pigmented, the MAC COSMETICS cushion provides a sheer to medium coverage that is build-able. Formulated with Coral Grass Extract that helps the skin to optimise its potential to look plump, bright, clear and even, the foundation feels hydrating on the skin and it does help to brighten the skin. The result is a satin matte, radiant finish that doesn’t settle into lines. The foundation has pretty good staying power as well, it sits on the skin looking nice all day without feeling greasy.

Tom Ford Traceless Touch Foundation SPF 45 Satin-Matte Cushion Compact
Available in 8 different shades, Tom Ford Traceless Touch Foundation SPF 45 Satin-Matte Cushion Compact is perfect for Singaporeans as it offers SPF 45/PA++++ sun protection and its formula is resistant to water, sweat and humidity. Even though the cushion offers medium to full coverage, it still feels light and comfortable on the skin and it can last for the entire day despite being out and about. It blends easily, I was able to conceal light blemishes without any use of concealer. The foundation gives a flawless, natural, soft matte finish which doesn’t settle into fine lines nor appearing cakey. For someone with combination oily skin, this foundation provides the perfect finish for my skin, it doesn’t appear to be too drying or dewy even after a long day. On top of that, the product comes with skincare benefits. It is formulated with Tom Ford’s proprietary Infusing Complex that is a potent blend of antioxidants that helps with anti-aging and hydration. The only downside will be the price. The compact and cushion are sold separately; the luxurious gold and cognac lacquered compact alone retails at $40. The hefty price tag is not justified by the quality of the compact because it actually looks much more luxurious than it feels.
Overall Rating: 4.2/5 Stars | Retailing at $120 (12g)
In my opinion, the Tom Ford, LANCÔME and MAC COSMETICS cushion foundations are worth trying! They provide decent coverage that don’t oxidise throughout the day and they are light and comfortable on the skin. These foundations are highly suitable for Singapore’s weather. Probably the determining factor will be the price and shade compatibility.
